Winemaker(s): Ben Walgate — a thoughtful, detail-driven English winemaker focused on purity, sustainability and terroir expression. Known for minimal-intervention techniques, long élevage and careful use of older oak to build texture without heaviness.
Winemaking: Whole-bunch pressed Pinot Blanc; wild fermentation; aged across older oak and stainless steel; extended time on lees for depth and mouthfeel. Bottled with low sulphur and no unnecessary handling. Only ~1,500 bottles produced.
Name Meaning: Simply “Pinot Blanc” — an honest, direct expression of the grape as grown in one of England’s most exciting still-wine regions.
Interesting Fact: Part of the debut still-wine releases from Walgate & Co., showing how well-suited Pinot Blanc is to the long, warm ripening of the Crouch Valley.
Serve With: White fish, shellfish, soft goat’s cheese, warm salads, herby chicken dishes, or as a refined, gently aromatic aperitif.
When to drink at Christmas: When you’ve got ‘wino’ guests you want to impress – with something they’ve likely never had before
