Circus Melon by Complémen’Terre

Location: Le Pallet, Muscadet (Loire Valley), France
Grapes: Mainly Melon de Bourgogne with a touch of Folle Blanche
Style: Organic | Natural | Still White | Early-Release (Nouveau-Style)

light and fresh but with some fullness | lemon, lime, white peach | salty

Winemaker(s): Marion Pescheux & Manuel Landron — Muscadet natives who returned home after winemaking stints in New Zealand and Chile. They settled in Le Pallet in 2013 to launch Complémen’Terre, crafting wines with more structure, tension and terroir expression than the region’s classic “simple and refreshing” stereotype.

Winemaking: Organically grown fruit; parcels vinified separately; spontaneous fermentation; full malolactic; minimal intervention; bottled young for maximum freshness. The 2025 vintage was harvested in September and released in November — very much in a Beaujolais Nouveau-style spirit.

Name Meaning: “Circus Melon” brings a playful twist to Melon de Bourgogne — a reminder to enjoy the wine rather than overthink it.

Interesting Fact: That splash of Folle Blanche (also known as Gros Plant) adds citrusy acidity and Atlantic salinity — the same grape historically used in Cognac and Armagnac for its bright, delicate profile.

Serve With: Oysters, clams, prawns, sardines, lemony salads, goat’s cheese, or anything you’d eat outside on a sunny day.
