Pét-Nat Rosé 2023 by Zaveč Brothers

Location: Haloze, Styria, Slovenia
Grapes: 100% Blaufränkisch
Style: Rosé Pét-Nat | Sustainable | Unfiltered

lively, delicate, frothy / strawberry, watermelon, redcurrant / floral, yeasty, saline

Tasting: Cloudy light-pink pét-nat with elegant bubbles, vibrant red-fruit notes, fresh herbs, and flavours of strawberry, raspberry, and Pink Lady apple. Fresh, yeasty and long on the finish.

Winemaker(s): Aleksander and Patrik Zaveč — the new generation running their family’s sustainably farmed vineyards, making low-intervention, terroir-driven wines.

Winemaking: Hand-picked and hand-sorted. Wild fermentation: two-thirds in stainless steel, final third in bottle. Six months on fine lees. No filtration, minimal sulphur.

Name Meaning: Celebrates Blaufränkisch — also known as Frankovka, Modra Frankinja and Kékfrankos — a historic Central European grape expressed here as a lively pét-nat.

Interesting Fact: The single vineyard sits at 450m on marl and sandstone — ancient seabed soils that force deep roots and give the wine its minerality and subtle salinity.

Serve With: Aperitif, salads, light meats, Asian or Middle Eastern dishes.

When to drink at Christmas: With Boxing Day leftovers.
