Winemaking: Destemmed and fermented at 24–26°C; aged 12 months in Bulgarian oak, then over six months in bottle. Rich, structured and built to age for up to eight years.
Name Meaning: “Mavrud” comes from the Greek mavro — “black” — a nod to the grape’s deep colour and intensity.
Interesting Fact: Mavrud is one of Bulgaria’s oldest indigenous red varieties — famed historically for strength, longevity and its naturally high tannins and acidity.
Serve With: Lamb, pork, smoked meats, aged or pungent cheeses, mushroom dishes and earthy herbs — best served at 16–18°C (decant 30 minutes).
