Winemaker(s): Pia Strehn — fourth-generation winemaker in the heart of Blaufränkisch country. The family estate spans 50ha, now run by Pia with help from her mother Monika and brothers Patrick and Andreas. Known for producing some of the highest-rated Blaufränkisch rosés in the world, and for championing local grapes with precision and flair.
Winemaking: Biodynamic grapes. Short six-day skin fermentation in stainless steel to keep tannins gentle; minimal sulphur; bottled unfiltered for purity and softness.
Name Meaning: “Wunderland” — “wonderland” — a nod to the playful, ultra-drinkable style of this rare Austrian variety.
Interesting Fact: Roesler is a modern Austrian crossing (Zweigelt × a Blaufränkisch parent). Loved for its winter-frost resistance and organic-friendly hardiness, it combines Zweigelt fruitiness with Blaufränkisch grip.
Serve With: Meat dumplings with horseradish, beef rendang, grilled lamb chops or anything hearty but not too heavy.
When to drink at Christmas: Christmas Lunch. Its red fruits will complement Turkey and this wine would also be good with beef.
