Winemaker(s): Don’t Feed The Ponies is an experimental micro-range made by Sandridge Barton — the modern Devon estate formerly known as Sharpham. The project allows their winemaking team to explore small-batch, boundary-pushing ideas: flor ageing, unusual vessels, long elevage and low-intervention craftsmanship.
Winemaking: Pinot Blanc aged over two years under flor in old oak. Unfortified, naturally protected by the flor layer, developing fino-like aromas and a creamy, saline palate. Bottled from a single barrel in tiny quantities — one of the only English flor-aged wines in existence.
Name Meaning: “Sonny” is the cuvée; “Don’t Feed The Ponies” is the experimental label — a nod
to Dartmoor’s wild ponies and the estate’s ethos of letting nature lead. Every bottle supports Dartmoor conservation.
Interesting Fact:
Serve With: Anchovies, olives, salted almonds, oysters, fried fish, Manchego, seafood paella or anything you’d pair with fino-style sherry.
