Winemaker(s): Pablo Fallabrino — an experimental, artisan Uruguayan winemaker who blends local tradition with creative flair. Known for pushing boundaries with Tannat, especially in dessert and fortified styles.
Winemaking:
A unique, hybrid method.
Name Meaning: “Alcyone” is named after a star in the Pleiades — suggesting brightness, allure and something to savour slowly.
Interesting Fact: Tannat is Uruguay’s flagship grape, yet almost nowhere else in the world is it transformed into an aromatised dessert wine — Alcyone remains utterly unique.
Serve With: Dark chocolate desserts, salted caramel, tiramisu, blue cheese, baked figs — or simply as a luxurious after-dinner sip.
When to drink at Christmas: We reckon this will be ace with Christmas Pudding. But as we only discovered it this year, we haven’t had the chance to try that yet
